It could mean a new play area for the capital
Douglas Council has submitted a planning application to revamp the sunken gardens on Loch Promenade.
Proposals feature a play area, skate park and family friendly activities.
It follows two public consultation events organised by the local authority where residents were able to view the potential designs and choose from three different concepts which include 'play, activity and relaxation'.
The council says it spoke to 600 people in person and the scheme is planned to cost £1.47 million.
It has also confirmed 'careful consideration' has been given to the designs of each garden to mitigate 'potential' future flooding.
Leader of Douglas Council Claire Wells said: "The general feedback was positive and proposals were warmly received with some caveats that have been addressed going forward.
"A sincere thank you to everyone who took the time to attend the consultation events and, of course, for your informative feedback.
"We believe this application reflects the rich history and heritage of Douglas Bay, and the wider capital, respecting its historical integrity while also looking forward and reflecting the changing needs of local people and visitors to the Isle of Man.
"We all strive for Douglas to be a desirable place to live, work and visit, supporting the regeneration of its built environment, which is why we want to create a series of gardens with a strong identity and, ultimately, we look forward to seeing the thoughts and feelings of the public become a reality."
Proposals for Marine Garden four include a play area that will have equipment for a wide range of ages and abilities within a garden setting including 'sensory, exploratory and social play'.
Sheltered seating will also be developed in the garden.
Marine Garden five will become a 'unique garden space' with a focus on urban sports such as skateboarding and will also have more seating installed.
