DoI staff redirected to clear-up weekend storm damage

28 trees down predominantly in north of Island

Infrastructure staff have been diverted away from winter maintenance work to clear-up damage from this weekend’s storm.

One hundred and twenty-five weather related calls were received by the department on Saturday (9 December).

The north of the Island, and the central valley, was affected by surface water flooding and strong winds caused 28 trees to come down on or near roads.

The DoI says its on call teams were supported by local tree surgery companies who helped clear the fallen debris as soon as possible.

Overhead power cables which were brought down were dealt with by Manx Utilities.
