Disruption at Ronaldsway blamed on ATC restrictions

Two London flights were cancelled mid-flight

Criticism's been fired at Ronaldsway Airport, after two flights from London had to be cancelled mid-flight.

The airlines claim Air Traffic Control restrictions were put in place meaning the flights from London City and Gatwick couldn't land.

Those on the Gatwick flight had to return to London, while those travelling from London City were diverted to Liverpool for an overnight stay.

One passenger on the Gatwick flight claims they were expected to land at Ronaldsway early, while another told Manx Radio staff on board seemed to be just as surprised by the news as passengers.

A spokesperson from Isle of Man Airport says an investigation is currently underway into the matter.

They add: "While the Isle of Man Airport team consistently strives to extend operations beyond official opening hours whenever possible, this option wasn’t available last night."
