Dangerous Waters at Arbory Church

Lecture from Navy chief tonight

Dangerous Waters is the title of a special lecture at Arbory Church this evening.

The title refers to mine clearance in the Gulf War, with Commander Bernard Thompson, Chief of Staff at the Naval Regional Headquarters in Liverpool talking about how the Royal Navy dealt with the Gulf mine threat.

It forms the Autumn Quilliam Lecture at a quarter to eight.

The lecture series was originally established to mark Arbory's links to the navy through Captain John Quilliam, who helped steer Nelson's flaship Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar.

Church warden Phil Smith says the event is timely.

There are a few places remaining and you can secure tickets by calling 495146.

You’re advised to arrive early as parking is at a premium due to road works in the village.
