Manx Utilities warns the weather is cutting it fine for the current population
It's been revealed the Isle of Man uses 29million litres of water per day on average but recent heatwaves have seen that figure surge to 40million.
As a result, a hosepipe ban was announced and still remains in place.
In 2002, Brenda Cannell told Tynwald a report suggested the Island's water infrastructure was only able to sustain a population of 90,000 people.
Meanwhile, a financial plan unveiled in July this year, highlighted the government's intention to grow the population to 100,000 by 2037.
Gareth Patchett is the head of water at Manx Utilities who says building more reservoirs isn't the best approach to solving the Island's water resource situation and warns climate effects could change everything:
Main road between Peel and Douglas to shut for tree felling
'Targeted and intelligence led approach' to protect Island's borders during Irish sailings
Airport Director role advertised with top salary of £120,000
