Stephen Kelly oversaw the project for three years before he passed away last month

A new changing shelter on Ramsey's Queen's Promenade will have a memorial to commemorate the work carried out by a former commissioner.

Stephen Kelly died in November, and in recognition of the three years he served on the board, the commissioners agreed a bench will be put outside the shelter.

The hut was built in conjunction with local sea swimming group The Northern Dippers and the local authority, and will be officially opened next month.

Lead member for Works and Development Alby Oldham says Mr Kelly 'overcame' a lot of challenges to get the shelter up and running.

Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper spoke to Mr Oldham about the development:

Chair of Ramsey Commissioners Rob Cowell has agreed to personally cover the cost of the bench.
