Change to Island's EU Settlement Scheme

Manx Government to follow UK

EU citizens who were granted two years pre-settled status under the Isle of Man's European Union Settlement Scheme can have that status extended by two years.

The extension will be automatically applied 28 days before the leave is due to expire.

The updated status document provides proof of right to work, live or study on the Island and provides valid permission to enter the Isle of Man or UK following travel.

In December 2022 a UK High Court judgment ruled that pre-settled status holders from the EU should not lose their rights of residence.

The Isle of Man has committed to maintain alignment with the EUSS scheme.

In a statement on 21 of May this year the UK Home Office said it would change the duration of pre-settled status extensions from two to five years.

The Manx Government says it will follow suit as and when the change is implemented in the UK.
