Chamber urges government to focus on political stability

Follows news of upcoming vote of confidence in Chief Minister 

The government must not lose focus on the importance that stability plays in maintaining the Island's status as an international business centre.

That's the warning from the Chamber of Commerce following news that a vote of confidence in the Chief Minister has been tabled in the House of Keys for Tuesday's sitting.

The Chamber says political stability remains the foundation of a strong economy, which must be the top priority for government.

The statement from the Chamber of Commerce reflects the level of concern felt by its membership over the current political turmoil, sparked by the recent resignation of Health Minister, Lawrie Hooper.

The business network says stability has always been an essential element of the Island's economic success story.

The Chamber Board states that as with all offshore jurisdictions the Isle of Man faces a range of challenges which need to be addressed to ensure continued economic growth.
