Cavendish takes 2nd place in Stage 7 of Tour de France

Alpecin–Deceuninck rider takes the crown

Mark Cavendish sprinted hard towards the end of Stage 7 in the Tour de France, but unfortunately it wasn't enough.

The Manx Missile placed second, just metres behind Belgian rider Jasper Philipsen.

Cavendish will continue his hopes to take the record for the most stage wins later in the event.

He currently has 34, tied with Eddie Merckx.

Tomorrow (8 July) is the second longest route, at 201km - 31km further than today's route between Mont-de-Marsan and Bordeaux.
