Car seized as police begin winter vehicle crackdown

Officers carrying out roadworthiness checks

Police stopped 38 motorists yesterday evening on what was the first night of the Isle of Man Constabulary's winter driving campaign.

Operation Uplift is back underway with officers carrying out checks to ensure vehicles are of a safe standard.

Of the 38 vehicles pulled over, one was seized for being unroadworthy and one was found to have expired tax.

Officers are checking for any defects such as with tyres, lights, or brakes.

They are also on the lookout for anyone drink and drug driving, speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, driving whilst using a mobile phone, or driving without a licence, insurance, or tax.
