Calls for residents to write to the RTLC to save Cregneash route

Rushen Heritage Centre receives 97 complaints about the non-core service

A Port Erin resident is trying to rally as many people as she can on the Isle of Man to write to the Road Transport Licensing Committee against removing the 28 route bus in the south of the Island.

This route, which served Cregneash and The Sound, was labelled a 'non-core service' by Bus Vannin, and the government-run operator is seeking to have it formally removed.

At a public meeting in Port St Mary last night, it was revealed the RTLC will be meeting to discuss the route later this month.

Christa Viohl told Manx Radio it's 'vital' that people write to the committee.

She added since May the Rushen Heritage Centre has received a number of complaints about the non-service to some of the Island's heritage sites:

David Scott is a Port St Mary Commissioner.

He's already written to the committee about how crucial the 28 route is in the community and says the commissioners will also be making a submission.

Speaking as a Port St Mary resident, he told Manx Radio he'd like to see the service restored:

Manx Radio has contacted government for a comment.
