Calls for applications to serve on Tynwald Youth Select Committee

Applications will close on Friday 15 November 2024

There are calls for young people aged between 15 and 23 to apply to join Tynwald's Youth Select Committee.

It follows success of the first committee, which was formed in October 2023.

The Committee mirrors the Tynwald Select Committee structure and gives young people the opportunity to scrutinise and hold inquiries into topics of importance to them.

The 2023/24 Committee conducted its inquiry into the support available for young people (in particular those aged 16-25) to find ‘a suitable and affordable place to call home’ in the Island.

A report will be published later this year and will be laid before Tynwald.

Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson said: "Tynwald is always looking for ways to engage with different groups outside of its walls and regular settings.

"The Youth Select committee is a unique opportunity for the Island’s young people to get stuck into a topic close to their hearts and report back to Tynwald.

"Alongside Junior Tynwald, and direct communication with Members, the Youth Select Committee is a valuable tool for Tynwald to hear directly from our young people."

If you are interested in applying for the Youth Select Committee or you would like to find out more, email ysc@tynwald.org.im
