Callister speaks out against chief minister after 'integrity' comments

Sacked health minister 'appalled' after Cannan's Tynwald statement

The Island's former health minister Rob Callister has spoken out publicly for the first time since being sacked from the role last week.

In Tynwald this morning questions were put to the chief minister over the dismissal, but Alfred Cannan hit back at suggestions the sacking and other changes in the past six months had affected government's stability.

He criticised the MHK who asked the question for 'moaning on the back benches' but praised former health minister, Douglas North MHK David Ashford, for the 'integrity' he showed when resigning from Treasury earlier this year.

'I hope at some point he will be back in government in a more forward-leading position' - Chief Minister Alfred Cannan on David Ashford, who resigned as treasury minister in May following backlash over the findings of an employment tribunal.
