Work on the pedestrian crossing on Braddan Road is due to start in November
Braddan Commissioners met yesterday to discuss problems affecting the parish, including renting out car parking spaces and the planning application on Trollaby Lane.
However, an update was provided on the pedestrian crossing on Braddan Road - work is due to be started at the beginning of November.
Currently there is a temporary set-up by Strang crossroads because it was a planning condition of The Roundhouse.
It’s also costing the local authority £750 pounds a week for the lights, but the board agreed it’s still in the wrong place.
Also on the agenda was a plan to rent out the parking spaces at the Memorial Hall on Peel Road.
The commissioners agreed to the idea, but concern was raised about how it would be enforced.
Spaces would be rented out for £695 for a year and a ticket would be issued to people who have parked in a reserved space.
It was also confirmed money from the ticket will go back to the commissioners.
The amended planning application for the Trollaby Lane development by Dandara was supported by the local authority.
Currently, it contains no plans for the number of houses it plans to build, but is for a new roadway and footpath in the fields.
Chair Andrew Jessopp said until there was a ‘detailed’ application the board would support it.
And he believed there is still a ‘green gap’ between Strang and Union Mills in the development which was requested in the Area Plan for the East.
Two residents had contacted the commissioners asking if they would object to it.
Braddan Commissioners will next meet on Thursday, 24 October.
