DHA to ask Tynwald to extend UK law to IOM
Mobile phones used illicitly by prisoners could have their signals blocked in future, if Tynwald supports the extension of UK legislation to the Isle of Man.
The Department of Home Affairs will call on members to approve the introduction of the Prisons (Interference with Wireless Telegraphy) Act 2012, with modifications.
The laws would also allow the DHA to block drones from flying over the facility.
Department member Clare Bettison says although efforts are made to prevent mobile phones being smuggled into the prison, some do slip through.
