MU Chair explains reasons behind hosepipe ban
Depleted reservoir stocks and a lack of rain forecast have been given as the reasons behind a hosepipe ban on the Island.
The restriction comes into place on Friday, and those caught ignoring the ban could be landed with a fine up to £1,000.
According to forecasters, the likelihood of near normal rainfall in the next three months is less than 40%.
That predicted lack of rain has led to fears reservoirs could become 'critically low'.
Manx Utilities says the ban will remain in place until the Island experiences a 'period of sustained rainfall'.
