Backbenchers to probe Manx Care's finances in House of Keys

Tax, dental access and bus driver contracts to be put to the government

In the House of Keys this morning, the Chief Minister will face questions on Manx Care’s costs this financial year and how those expenses would compare to a privatised alternative.

Later in the session, members will discuss topics such as the provision of paper recycling and the potential scrapping of electric vehicles.

The question paper begins with two starred questions on Manx Care.

Lawrie Hooper is set to ask about the proposed two percent income tax rise, while Jason Moorhouse will seek updates on the progress of the new Castle Rushen High School, dental care access, and bus driver contracts.

Mr Moorhouse will also inquire about recycling facilities and recent fuel price trends, and Mr Hooper plans to ask further questions on the scrapping of electric vehicles.

Julie Edge will question the costs of the Summerhill View contract and will close the session by asking if there are legal penalties for overspending.

Meanwhile, in the Legislative Council, members will consider the Reproductive Rights Bill, moving to the evidence and clauses stage, as well as the Statute Law Revision Bill.

You can listen to this morning's House of Keys question time on Manx Radio AM1368, online or via smartphone apps.
