Housing and Communities Board hopeful local authority projects can lead own projects
Public sector housing on the Isle of Man should be seen as an ‘asset’ and not a debt.
That’s the view of the chair of the Housing and Communities Board who’s told Manx Radio he’s hopeful local authorities can lead their own projects.
Tynwald has now received the board’s response to the Objective Assessment of Housing Need which commits to building, providing or facilitating 1,000 affordable homes over 10 years.

Just two MHKs voted against the motion – Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse and Onchan’s Julie Edge – after a lively debate from politicians, and the Island’s bishop, who were critical of the progress so far:
David Ashford says it’s a ‘frustration’ that no new public sector housing has been built in this administration but he’s hopeful that will soon change.
