Apology after Boots Opticians customers mistakenly told they would have to pay for NHS eye tests

Confusion after UK Optometrist brought over

Boots Opticians have apologised after mistakenly informing a number of people booked for NHS eye tests that they would have to pay.

The company told Manx Radio the error was the result of a misunderstanding and all affected customers were being contacted to confirm that their tests would be provided free of charge, in line with the Island's NHS provision.

The confusion arose after an Optometrist from the UK was brought in to provide temporary cover due to staff sickness.
