Number of people making phone calls doubles
Telecommunications company Sure has seen a significant increase in people using home broadband since lockdown measures began on the Island.
From 27 March the company has reported a 33% increase in traffic, with the average weekly usage rising from 73GB per week to 97GB.
As more people are working from home, peak times have gone from between 5pm-11pm in the evenings, to spanning almost the whole day from 10am to 11pm at night.
During this period the organisation also reports a doubling of mobile phone calls.
Despite the new rise, the company assures its customers that they are meeting the demand, and continue to have spare capacity.
