Permission sought for 'Market of Mann'

It's hoped to take place by Bottleneck Car Park in Douglas

Planning permission is being sought to temporarily transform the Bottleneck Car Park in Douglas into a food and drink market during TT!

Event Management Solutions, trading under Mann Made Festivals is hoping to turn the car park into a Manx produce market between 21 May and 8 June.

The first event will operate from 5pm-10pm and thereafter trading times will be from midday until 10pm daily for the ‘Marketplace of Mann’.

If approved, a bar area, gazebos, portable toilets and a main covered area marquee will be erected on the spot.

In their application letter, organisers say they want it to be the focal point for Manx products and encourage visitors to support local businesses and sample Manx specialties.

It also intends to install a stage for entertainers to showcase their skills and a children's activity area.

Organisers say the market will be able to hold 2,600 people but they are expecting to have up to 1,000 people at any particular time.

Isle of Man Left Luggage says it will continue operating its facility in the Bottleneck Car Park during this year's motorsport festival.
