Katherine Ellis has been appointed president of ACCA’s (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Isle of Man Members’ Network for the next two years.
Katherine, who is a senior manager responsible for yachting and aviation services at Equiom Trust Company, has been an active member of ACCA’s local governing panel for over four years.
She says: “I hope to raise ACCA’s profile and build on the good work which has already been done by our local membership. I am particularly keen to do more with young people to promote their understanding of business. In doing so, I want to get across the message that ACCA is not a narrow accountancy qualification, but something which will help anyone looking for a wider career in management, whatever their sector. As part of this, we also want to do more with other peer group bodies on the Island, such as the Law Society, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants, perhaps holding joint events such as seminars, discussions and other forums where we can get together to share knowledge and experience”.
