New IBS head to be appointed

As the future use of the Nunnery site, the home of the International Business school, is worked out, one of the key figures in the development of the IBS is taking his leave from the stage.

Professor Roger Carey is retiring and the search is on for his replacement, who will find the set up somewhat different to that at present. That, of course, off the back of the partial amalgamation of the IBS and the Isle of Man College.

The Department of Education says it is seeking to appoint 'an energetic, entrepreneurial and innovative leader' to build on the strengths of the existing team at the IBS.

Minister for Education Anne Craine is describing it as: 'A pivotal time of development for the International Business School'. She says: 'This post will require someone who will take a dynamic approach to moving the ambitions of the Department of Education forward as we progress towards the longer term aim of developing a University Centre and later a University of Mann.

'The International Business School has established itself well within the business community and we seek someone who will be able to build on that relationship and who will recognise the part that we have to play in enhancing the skills of the Island’s workforce to enable our economy to flourish.

'The successful applicant will be charismatic and have strong leadership, management and marketing skills. To fulfil this ambitious specification we will consider applicants from either successful academic or business backgrounds and I look forward to some exciting applications.'
