A former assistant Dublin county manager was arrested as he got off a flight from the Isle of Man carrying £300,000, a court has heard.
George Redmond was stopped by the Irish Criminal Assets Bureau in 1999 as it investigated corruption allegations surrounding Dublin land deals.
Mr Redmond is accused of taking £10,000 in one such land deal and of hiding tens of thousands of pounds offshore in the Isle of Man over the course of twenty years.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard he was arrested returning from the Isle of Man with £200,000 in cash and around £100,000 in cheques.
In statements to the police, he admitted accepting bribes, but later retracted his confession during a public inquiry.
He faces two charges relating to a single land deal, and his trial continues.
