MoU signed with hi tech business park
The government says it hopes to have strengthened its relationship with China through after reaching an agreement with an industrial development zone.
Yesterday, Economic Development Minister Lawrence Skelly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Zhongguancun (PRON:Jong-jwan-chun) Boya Multimedia Creative and Innovation Park (ZBMCIP).
The state-level high-tech facility occupies 95 hectares and, along with its sister parks, is known as the Silicon Valley of China.
The agreement signals the latest move by government to promote the Island to China's business and political leaders.
The industrial park features more than 1000 high-tech businesses covering industries such as mobile communication, animation and games, and e-pay.
Under the terms of the memorandum, ZBMCIP will assist Manx firms hoping to establish themselves in Asia as well as endorse the Island to Chinese companies seeking to expand in the West.
The deal will be reciprocated by the Isle of Man Government -assistance will be given to firms from Zhongguancun looking to take advantage of the Island's e-business sector.
