Showcase of top construction talent
Organisers of University College Isle of Man's construction craft skills competition, say the event gave current students a valuable opportunity to showcase their skills to Island employers.
The event on Friday (17 March) which was open to the public, also aimed to inspire prospective students to train for jobs in the industry at UCM.
Chief Minister Howard Quayle and other MHKs visited during the day and were given a tour by the College Principal Jo Pretty.
Prizes were presented by Minister of Education Graham Cregeen.
First places were secured in brickwork by Daniel Beattie, in carpentry and joinery by Greg Anderson, and in electrical installations by David Byrne.
In horticulture Thomas Wood was the winner, the painting and decorating category was won by Luke Perry, with Adam Rutter the plumbing victor.
UCM’s new full-time prospectus is now online, with printed copies available from the college.
