Barclays Wealth has donated £6,200 to Junior Achievement Isle of Man.
The funds were raised at a Barclays Premiership dinner held last November where the guest speakers were former Manchester United and England footballer Gary Pallister and sports presenters Ray Stubbs and Rebecca Lowe.
The profits from the event - £12,400 - were shared between Wish Upon a Dream and Junior Achievement Isle of Man.
Barclays Wealth vice-president Ian Pilley said: ‘Barclays Wealth is an ardent supporter of Junior Achievement Isle of Man, an organisation helping prepare young people for the world of work.
‘This donation represents a further demonstration of our long-term commitment to the charity to which we have not only pledged funding but also practical support by releasing key members of our team to help deliver teaching programmes in primary and secondary schools across the Island.’
The charity’s chief executive Sue Cook said: ‘We are extremely grateful to Barclays Wealth, a business that shares our passion for teaching young people the skills for employability, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. Barclays Wealth’s generosity will help support the work we are doing in the company programme where the winner of the Junior Achievement Isle of Man Company of the Year will compete for the European finals in Sardinia this July.
'This event will raise the Island’s profile throughout Junior Achievement Europe and will prove an invaluable experience for all the students involved.’
