'Get on board' the regeneration train

Retailers in Ramsey are receiving a boost at the start of 2012.

It's been announced that the regeneration zone in the town has been extended.

It will now take in the retail zone at the western end of Parliament Street, which means more shop owners and tenants will have an opportunity to apply for funding.

The town and village regeneration scheme was set up in 2009 with funding of £8 million and the aim of bringing life back into the Island's high streets. So far 68 projects in seven towns and villages have received funding or applied for grant assistance.

Chief Minister Allan Bell, the chairman of the Ramsey Regeneration Committee, hopes more shop owners in the town will submit applications and 'get on board' with what the initiative is trying to achieve.
