From Sea to Sip -  Captain Carter to Kick Off Isle of Man Beer & Cider Festival!

Pints will mean pounds for RNLI

The man who has guided more than 4,500 vessels in and out of Douglas harbour will be guest of honour at the Isle of Man Beer and Cider Festival in April.

Captain Steven Carter will pull the first pint of ale which has been specially brewed for the event.

The beer is called 'S.O.S', and a donation from each pint sold will go towards the festival's nominated charity which is the RNLI.

Organisers say 'since the lifesaving organisation was the brainchild of Island resident Sir William Hillary and founded with like-minded people in a pub in London, the festival is a fitting occasion to celebrate its 200th anniversary'.

The festival will take place from Thursday, 11 April to Saturday, 13 April in the Villa Marina’s Royal Hall, featuring more than 150 real ales, ciders, perries and fruit wines.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased from the VillaGaiety box office, the Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal or on the door subject to availability.

For the latest news, you can go to the festival's Facebook page.
