Stu Peters

Stu Peters is an independent candidate and this is his first time standing in a General Election.

He's a freelance presenter and producer formerly at Manx Radio.

He has three children and while he doesn't have a pet of his own, he's pretty well adopted his neighbour's cat!

In his spare time he enjoys flying, cars, motorbikes, music, vlogging, gadgets and talking to people.

Stu says: "As a daily news, current affairs and talk broadcaster, I think I probably have a better idea than most about what real people think about real issues.

"I want to take back control from the political elite who, once elected, seem to forget the people who put them in Tynwald in the first place.”

We asked each candidate to choose three priorities from the following issues or add their own:

Climate change, heritage, tourism, public transport, affordable housing, roads, mental health, education, falling birth rate, encouraging university students to return to the Island.

Stu chose tourism, affordable housing and roads.

He also added holding the government machine to account, uniting our nation behind the Manx flag and promoting transparency, decency, honour and free speech
