Sarah Maltby
Sarah Maltby
Sarah is the Chair of the Manx Labour Party and this is the first time she's stood for election.
She's a Senior Education Support Officer at Ballakermeen High School, where she's based in the Learning Support Services department working with young people with complex additional educational and medical needs.
She also works for Crossroads IOM with adults with complex disabilities on a zero hour's contract.
She's a mum of two, and both her children go to Scoill Vallajeelt like she did.
Her hobbies usually centre on whatever her children want to do! If she's not watching her daughter at gymnastics or taking her son for long walks around the Island with their dog Roxy, she's usually making quiet time for her or spending time with friends enjoying the Island's social scene.
Sarah says: “Douglas South is more than just a constituency area to me. I have lived in the area my entire life and have first-hand experience of the issues the residents of Douglas South have and how I can realistically and faithfully support our community."
We asked each candidate to choose three priorities from the following issues or add their own:
Climate change, heritage, tourism, public transport, affordable housing, roads, mental health, education, falling birth rate, encouraging university students to return to the Island.
Sarah chose mental health, education and affordable housing.
