The topic of our first lecture will be the works of the well known Russian artist Mark Chagall. An artist whose work has embraced many mediums. He absorbed the techniques of Fauvism and Cubism, adding his own folksy imagery based on his life as a Jew brought up in the culture of a small village in Belarus. His use of colour was one of the features of his work and his work using stained glass is vibrant with colour. The 12 windows at All Saints Church Tudeley in Kent is the only church in the world to have all of the windows designed by Chagall. The lecture will be a window into a truly exceptional artist.
