Horse trams being set up to fail says MERS

Claims scheme is ill-considered

The horse trams are being set up to fail according to the Manx Electric Railway Society.

In Tynwald next week, Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne will look for support for  a package of measures that would see the trams run from Strathallan to the War Memorial in 2017 and 2018.

The Department says it will then use its analysis over three years to make a 'fully informed' decision on the future of the horse trams.

Secretary of the MERS, Julian Nutter, is asking for members of the public to email their MHK ahead of next week's Tynwald sitting, requesting they put on hold the Loch Prom regeneration, encourage a more modest road resurfacing scheme . . .  and retain the trams in full.
